The Dordogne Jazz Summer School is based at Chateau de Monteton, a real mediaeval castle, in south west France; and led by pianist and composer Andrea Vicari. A week of total immersion in jazz and improvisation. An intensive musical language course in a supportive enviroment, with a lot of enthusiastic people at all levels. You may surprise yourself ....and it's fun ! Combine the fun of a jazz course with a sun packed holiday. The area is of outstanding natural beauty with excellent local wine and cuisine at affordable prices. We strongly recommend that you don't miss out on at a least a little exploration of the region. WEEK ONE : JULY 21 - JULY 28
 
Open to all levels and instruments.
Improvisation, harmony, the exploration of various jazz idioms, and group performance will be the main areas covered. There are nightly organised jam sessions from 6.00pm and all-night jams after dinner in the Cave, plus free concerts by the tutors and other professional jazz musicians. At the end of the week the students perform to a live audience.

WEEK TWO : JULY 28 - AUGUST 4
 
Intensive Course for more experienced players with Mornington Lockett and Andrea Vicari. Foundation Course welcomes jazz beginners, the underconfident.  Tutor - Duncan Eagles

VOCAL COURSE with Paola Vera.
A classically trained professional pianist; composer; arranger as well as an accomplised singer; Paola has the complete range of skills needed to take your singing skills to the next level and beyond. Paola's teaching experience includes work from school level, through adult education workshops and as a tutor on the TrinityLaban Conservatoire summer school .

All courses are adults only (18+), unless chaperoned (16+).

Fly direct to Bergerac Airport from London (Stansted, Gatwick), Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Southampton, Nottingham, Exeter, and Leeds-Bradford with RyanAir; FlyBE or Transavia. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BODY
 
We welcome students from all countries. In past years these have included the UK, France, Ireland, Spain, Japan, USA, Holland, Israel, Austria, Canada, Turkey, Norway, China (Hong Kong), Sweden, South Africa, Catalonia, Austrailia, and Italy. Teaching is primarily in English with French translation available as Andrea Vicari, Jon Bratoeff and drum tutor Scott are fluent and the rest of us get by.
